Aromatherapy for Ailments

Aromatherapy can be a very effective way to treat common ailments. Whether you suffer from occasional episodes of stress, cellulite, depression, acne, or the common cold, aromatherapy offers a natural alternative. If you are like many savvy people, you probably want to avoid using medical treatments that are either invasive or come with risk of harmful side effects.

Scientists in aromatherapy have shown the effectiveness of this treatment when you inhale essential oils or absorb them through your skin.  Because of the widespread use of aromatherapy, many oils are accessible, highly effective, and easy to use.  Best of all, aromatherapy is relatively safe and has few negative side effects. That being said, there are certain oils that are considered toxic and you should never apply undiluted essential oils to your skin.

Treat Common Ailments with Aromatherapy
If you have a common cold and would like relief from symptoms such as congestion, runny nose, and sore throat, you can do an inhalation treatment using aromatherapy oils like eucalyptus and tea tree. As an added benefit, when you use these oils in an inhalation treatment, you will also be giving your immune system a boost and helping it fight off the virus that is causing your cold.

Common ailments like cellulite, acne, and asthma can be treated with aromatherapy.  You can ease the symptoms of asthma by taking a therapeutic bath or adding essential oils to a carrier oil and massaging it into your breast bone area so you can relieve tightness of the chest. To reduce the appearance of cellulite, you can add essential oils to a carrier oil and give yourself a massage.  You can also treat acne by putting diluted essential oils on your face and body.  It is very important to follow directions and specific recipes when making essential oil treatments because the oils are very potent and can irritate your skin if you use too much.  When it comes to aromatherapy, less is more.  Don’t overuse oils and try to use as little as possible.

Fungal and bacterial infections of the skin such as ringworm or athletes foot can be easily treated at home with aromatherapy oils.  Tea tree oil is an excellent essential oil that has anti-fungal properties.  No need to go to a doctor and spend unnecessary money when all you have to do is reach in your medicine cabinet and get some essential oils!

You owe it to yourself to experience the benefits of aromatherapy. Explore how essential oils can be an easy and risk-free way to treat common ailments and conditions that you may suffer from.  Use aromatherapy to help balance your mind, body, and emotions so you see a dramatic improvement in your overall state of health.
